Your profile
As our Technical Lead, you'll take charge of a team of talented engineers and help drive the development of groundbreaking geospatial products and services. You’ll be leading by example—designing, coding, and architecting—while also mentoring the team, aligning on best practices, and ensuring technical excellence. You will work closely with the leadership of the company, aligning business goals with technical strategy to build modular geospatial solutions for the world.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor an engineering and development team while actively contributing to coding, architecture, and design.
- Drive innovation within our tech stack and explore new technologies to enhance our solutions.
- Develop and enhance user interfaces for our geospatial applications.
- Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to understand project requirements and drive the development of scalable, future-proof solutions.
- Ensure high-quality standards through code reviews, testing practices, and by fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Implement best practices for application security and modern data security standards
- Manage resource allocation, timelines, and guide the team in a hands-on, agile environment.
- Work closely with company leadership to align technical strategy with business objectives, focusing on modular geospatial solutions that can be integrated into technology stacks globally.
Must-Have Qualifications- 5+ years of professional software development experience, ideally in geospatial or data-heavy environments.
- Experience leading or mentoring an engineering team, ideally in a hands-on capacity.
- Strong proficiency in technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and relevant GIS tools (e.g., Mapbox, QGIS, PostGIS).
- Proven experience in architecting scalable solutions, particularly for mapping or location-based services.
- Proficiency in deploying, managing, and securing applications in the cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP).
- Familiarity with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Mocha) and a balanced approach to reliability and practicality in testing.
- Openness to adapting project management methodologies, with a preference for experience in Scrum.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications- Demonstrated experience with geospatial libraries such as Mapbox GL, MapLibre GL, Leaflet JS, and OpenLayers.
- Knowledge of spatial data concepts, including vector/raster tiling and handling large data sets.
